Bates CHI&Partners host second Singapore Portfolio Night

Published by

Bates CHI&Partners announced recently that they will be hosting the Art Director’s Club (ADC) Portfolio Night, the world’s largest advertising portfolio review, in Singapore on Wednesday 20 May. This is a one-night-only event, which will be held simultaneously in 24 cities globally on the same date. The evening allows students valuable face-time and constructive critique from a lineup of seasoned professionals in the creative industry. This marks the second time Bates has hosted it in Singapore after their sold-out success at last year's event.

Bates CHI&Partners will be hosting the Art Director’s Club (ADC) Portfolio Night in Singapore for the second year in a row

A unique event in the advertising calendar, the ADC Portfolio Night is a meet-and-greet event like no other, which brings together the best of the present and the future creative communications professionals in industry hubs across the world. Now in its 13th year, the event is an electric evening flowing with advice, networking and recruitment, where aspiring, young, local talent from the world of advertising get to rub noses with some of the most renowned creative directors in the industry. Each City Host is responsible for bringing together the top creative directors in their city with up-and-coming advertising talent. This will provide junior talent with the opportunity to learn from the best, and to provide leading industry creative directors with a chance to mentor and give back to the advertising industry. The full list of the 32 Creative Directors in Singapore who will participate can be viewed HERE.

To promote the event in Singapore this year, Bates CHI&Partners have created a campaign to show how difficult it is to pin down a Creative Director from a top agency. Leo Poloniecki, head of copy at Bates CHI&Partners said the campaign is “Aimed at students trying to break into the industry.” He explains that it “Emphasises how tricky it is to track down the most elusive of species: the Creative Director,” however, come Portfolio Night, he jokes that “These rare creatures come out of hiding to see you.” Impressive how he manages to make creative directors sounds like rare Pokémon right? David Mayo, CEO of Bates CHI&Partners, adds: “Bates CHI&Partners recognises that young creatives are the future of our evolving industry, and our involvement in Portfolio Night for the second year running is core to our investment in nurturing the next generation of talent.”

There are numerous rewards for young creatives on the night, including an all-expenses paid trip to New York City to take part in a week-long All Stars competition against the winners in the other participating cities. Other incentives include exclusive internship opportunities with the local agencies. In Singapore, Portfolio Night is supported by Canvas Singapore and Shooting Gallery Asia. Canvas at The Riverwalk, located between lively Boat Quay and Clarke Quay, was selected as the venue for the event because of the venue's emphasis on creativity and collaboration. Roy Ng, executive director of Canvas Singapore said, “Canvas is pleased to support Portfolio Night and be part of a platform that inspires the exchange of ideas and grows creativity.” Shooting Gallery Asia is in charge of videography and photography at the event. Sebastian Tan, MD of Shooting Gallery Asia said, “Our partnership with Bates CHI&Partners as they host Portfolio Night is aligned to our investment in youth talent and igniting passion in the creative industry.”
