adam&eveDDB and Harvey Nichols strip Jeremy Corbyn down to his pants

Published by

We appear to be living through an age of divisive political figures. Whether that's down to the prevalence of media coverage in 2016 or the fact that simply people are bored of the “Same old suits” is open for debate, but wherever you stand, it's definitely an interesting time. Few are as interesting (in British politics at least) as current Labour party leader, Jeremy Corbyn, who has spent the lion's share of his tenure as party head ruffling conservative and labour feathers alike. Concurrently, however, he's also gained something of a surprise following amongst millennials, thanks, in no small part, to his notable lack of bullshit and posturing, which us savvy youngsters can see through from a mile away. For any American's reading, he is basically our Bernie Sanders.

David Cameron thought Jeremy Corbyn should get a proper suit and do up his tie, and the new Menswear Destination is the perfect place for him to do so”

Whatever your opinions on Corbyn, however, it cannot be denied that he dresses like a geography teacher, and nota particularly wealthy geography teacher at that. To bring a humours light to this fact, and to promote their new flagship store's Menswear Destination, Harvey Nichols has teamed up with BAFTA award-winning artist Alison Jackson and adam&eveDDB to create a series of images that appear to show Corbyn popping into the new department for a much-needed makeover. Alison Jackson is known for her tongue-in-cheek use of uncannily accurate look-a-likes, and this is her latest project, in partnership with the luxury retailer and advertising agency.

The series of humorous shots show the sartorially much-maligned Corbyn (though it's obviously not the man himself, but a cleverly disguised stand-in) checking out the new Menswear Destination in Knightsbridge for the first time. He visits AONO, the new independent barbershop, where he experiences a wash, cut, style and beard treatment, and meets two of the luxury retailer’s Style Advisors in the brand-new tailoring department. He is pictured arriving at the store sporting a disheveled look, but leaves transformed wearing a contemporary new style selected by Harvey Nichols.

Our new Menswear Department has stylish looks to suit every man, including Jeremy Corbyn, who was recently voted the worst dressed public figure in a public survey”

Shadi Halliwell, Creative and Marketing Director at Harvey Nichols, said: “With our new edit from the world’s most exciting designers, our on-hand stylists and our fabulous new barbershop, there is no longer an excuse for any man to be getting it wrong. From the sartorially challenged to those who nail it every time, our new Menswear Department has stylish looks to suit every man, including Jeremy Corbyn, who was recently voted the worst dressed public figure in a survey commissioned by us.” Ben Tollett, Executive Creative Director at adam&eveDDB, added: “David Cameron thought Jeremy Corbyn should get a proper suit and do up his tie. We thought the new Menswear Destination at Harvey Nichols was the perfect place for Jeremy to do it.”
