McCann's Nestle account gains new global ECD

Published by

It was announced yesterday that Adrian Botan has been promoted to the role of global executive creative director for the McCann Worldgroup's Nestle account. Botan will join fellow global executive creative directors James Dawson-Hollis, Bill Wright and John Mescall in developing creative work for the agency's largest global clients, with Botan specifically focusing on the Swiss multinational food and beverage company, which counts amongst its range of globally recognisable brands everything from coffee (Nescafe) to ice cream (Maxibon) and from breakfast cereals (Cheerios) to milkshakes (Nesquik) and Chocolate, which is arguably the market it has the most influence in.

Whilst serving in this new role, Bohan will continue to serve as creative chairman of McCann Bucharest, a shop which recently helped contribute to McCann's second “Agency Network of the Year” win in a row at the Golden Drum Festival, the most prestigious advertising festival for Central and Eastern Europe. McCann Bucharest picked up a Grand Prix trophy at the awards for their “Ghita, the Social Shepherd” campaign (below) for Vodafone Romania. Botan, who also served as vice president of creative excellence for the region, said he was proud they were “Able to defend the title of Network of the Year,” but thought the most important thing to take away from the awards was that they “Had 10 markets scoring points and winning awards, proving that the region is growing creatively.” It's undoubtedly this enthusiasm and “Big Picture” vision that helped him secure the global ECD role.

Botan is renowned across the region, having earned the honour of being the first creative director to bring a Cannes Grand Prix to Central & Eastern Europe back in 2011 when his agency took home two Grand Prix Lions for their work on Romanian chocolate brand ROM. The same campaign also brought them a Titanium Lion, as well as numerous Gold and Bronze Lions.

Rob Reilly, global creative chairman of the McCann Worldgroup, said that Botan is one of their “smartest, most innovative creative thinkers,” and believes that “All of his work shows his special ability to create the most creative work for his biggest clients.” This is underlined as the primary reason why he is being brought on board the global leadership team and Reilly says he “Cannot wait to see what Adrian does next,” which is surely the best compliment any creative chairman can give a fellow creative.
