LIA announces 2015 Jury Presidents

The London International Awards (LIA) have named JWT worldwide chief creative officer Matt Eastwood and McCann worldwide global executive creative director John Mescall as 2015 Jury Presidents. Eastwood will be presiding over the Print, Poster and Billboard category, whilst Mescall heads up the jury for TV/Cinema/Online Film. They join a panel that includes Leo Burnett global CCO Mark Tutssel, DigitasLBi North America CCO Ronald Ng and Collins founder and CCO Brian Collins. The announcement arrives as the entry system for the 2015 awards officially opens, with judging to take place between the 1st and 10th of October.

John Mescall

Eastwood joined JWT as Worldwide CCO in July 2014. Throughout his illustrious career he has overseen some of the most innovative and recognisable creative projects in advertising at numerous agencies, in various specialties and in a host of countries, including Australia, the UK and the US. He's also has won numerous accolades and honours, including Campaign Brief Agency of the Year, Creativity’s Agency to Watch, B&T Agency of the Year, Spikes Network of the Year and Campaign Magazine Network of the Year. He said “After a re-injection of energy some years ago, LIA fast became one of the industry’s most important shows.” He adds that “The caliber of jurors is always beyond compare, so it’s a thrill to preside over the Print, Poster and Billboard jury,” and he looks forward to “Helping curate a show that both records the best work, and inspires more of the same.”

2014's Winners

Mescall, meanwhile, moved to New York from his ECD post as McCann Melbourne to fulfil the position of Global ECD at McCann Worldgroup in 2014. Under his leadership, McCann Melbourne became the world’s most awarded agency in 2013, with honours including The Gunn Report Agency of the Year, LIA Agency of the Year, D&AD Agency of the Year, Cannes Agency of the Year (Runner Up), and Campaign Brief Agency of the Year. He was also named in the AdWeek's 2013 Creativity 50, and was also ranked as the 8th most creative person in worldwide advertising by Business Insider. He said it's a “Huge honour to chair the LIA TV/Cinema/Online Film jury” for a show that “Not only upholds the very highest standards, but leads the way in its efforts to bring the next generation of creative leaders into the jury room.” He adds that “Despite all the brilliant innovation and subversive qualities of the best work in the newer categories, there will always be a purity and artistry about Film that makes it wonderful to judge.”

LIA president Barbara Levy, commented on the appointment of both Mescall and Eastwood, by saying that the “LIA is honoured to have both Matt and John presiding over these two juries.” She adds that “An Award Show is only as good as its juries,” and “Having John and Matt is about as good as it gets.” The shortlisted finalists will be announced as each judging session concludes, with winners being announced 2nd November.
