JWT London handed the digital reigns by Rowntree's

Leading advertising agency JTW London has recently been named as the agency responsible for all digital business (marketing, social media and more) for confectionary brand Rowntree's. The partnership will commence in earnest this coming spring. The move doesn't come as much of a shock, considering the stellar work JWT has already done on other parts of the Nestle (who oversee the Rowntree's brand) range such as Aero, Quality Street and Kit Kat.

The agency was appointed after an incredibly competitive pitch, with the choice eventually falling between five of the countries top agencies. JWT won the role after a successful pitch, which pressed on the relationship the firms already shared. JWT London executive partner James Whitehead, said he thought that the move “Consolidated Nestle's business into JWT” and that he believed it was a demonstration of the “Excellent relationship” that the companies share.

He went on to say that he was extremely proud of the partnership, a sentiment shared by Nestle UK and Ireland's group marketing director Jon Lambert, who had nothing but kind words to share regarding his new partners. He said that the two firms were a good fit because “Brilliant digital advertising is of huge importance” to both of them in terms of both their brands and their consumers. The fact that Nestle share a history with the agency was also not overlooked by Lambert as he underlined how JWT had produced “Excellent work for other Nestle brands,” and that he “Felt more than confident” giving JWT complete control of the remainder of their digital business.

JWT (previously known as J. Walter Thompson) is the 4th largest largest advertising agency network in the world and is more than 150 years old. Key clients for the company, who have more than 200 offices in over 90 countries worldwide, include such universally recognised brands as Kellogg's, Vodafone, Ford, HSBC, Rolex and Mondelez. Rowntree's is just the latest in a long line of renowned brands to find themselves falling under the JWT banner.

Though the firm (who have in the past employed such great talents as David Bowie and Stephen King) has its headquarters in New York, the JWT London office has been responsible for many of the firms most striking work. This includes the recent Debenhams Christmas 2013 ad and the delightfully odd Duckbill Platypus campaign for First Direct bank. They also run a monthly 'YES' awards scheme, which allows pre and post graduate creative talent in the UK the opportunity to get their foot in the door of the creative industry.

With such a forward-thinking ethos, it's clear Rowntree's are in good hands.
