Havas acquire award-winning German agency

It was announced recently that The Havas Group has acquired the award-winning German agency, Bird & Schulte Advertising, a leading health and wellness communications agency which offers a full spectrum of services including advertising, digital media, events and medical education. Havas will help the agency continue to build on its track record (over 20 years) of “Serving up what its clients' brands need to succeed” under the new name; Havas Life Bird & Schulte. B&S co-founders and namesakes Jeremy Bird and Dr. Monika Schulte will continue to serve as joint managing directors at the agency, which will now have the full power of the Havas Health global network at its disposal. This partnerships will give B&S the ability to service more clients and wider markets in the constantly evolving health and wellness sector with a more complete full-service unified offering, from marketing to medical education, PR and market access focusing on professionals and patients.

The agency is a big scoop for Havas, which also recently acquired the Hispanic focused integrated communications and experiential marketing agency Formula for an undisclosed sum. B&S is a full service healthcare advertising agency that works with most of the largest health and wellness brands in Germany, and according to the company's press release, is known for its “Unique mix of astounding creativity and strong scientific knowledge.” Bird, joint managing director-creative director, is the creative guru of the company, and has earned honours from the New York Festivals, the CLIO Healthcare Awards, the Global Awards, Eurobest and Comprix. His partner Dr. Schulte, joint managing director-strategy & client services, meanwhile, is the brains of the operations. She holds a Ph.D. in cell biology from the University of Freiburg and has worked in the health and wellness industry for over a decade on both client and agency sides.

Bird said that he believes “Havas represents a fantastic opportunity” for them to leverage their innovation and services “Across a broader range of clients, markets and services within health and wellness.” He also feels that “The additional expertise available within the network” will complement their core competencies and allow them to deliver more unified campaigns as a result. Schulte adds that they are both “Excited to be joining the Havas family,” and hopes that “Through shared strategy, planning and account resources provided by Havas Health,” they be able to fulfil the needs of a far more significant client base.” She hopes the new partnerships will allow the newly rebranded HLB&S to continue to grow, whilst also offering “The same service, support and quality” that their clients have come to expect.
