Canyon: The latest book launch from Ditto Press

Published by

Tonight is the launch of a new publication from Ditto Press (RSVP here). There’s a couple of reasons this makes us excited. First up, Ditto Press is awesome. Founded in 2009, their risograph prints are both beautifully produced and totally affordable. There’s been a huge wave of interest in the printing technique of late, but Ditto were pioneers in the UK to offer the service. Their commitment to only publishing things that ring true to their tastes means what they produce is often unique and easily identifiable as one of theirs.

Second, cue Canyon. This new photography book is a collaboration between photographer Dan Wilton and writer Josh Jones. Taking Runyon Canyon – a huge hill between the Hollywood sign and Beverly Hills – as their focus, this book celebrates the people of the Hollywood Hills. From millionaires to hustlers, the mountain becomes a place where your social standing doesn’t matter…and won’t stop your picture being taken, either.

Wilton hails from Croydon, and his candid style is reinforced by a shrewd sense of humour. He switches up between digital and analogue, and blends fashion work with his portraiture. A busy guy, then. Writer Josh Jones writes extensively on music and sub-culture, with a knack for interviewing. Combined, they’ve produced a little look into a different side of LA.

This limited edition book has a super nice finish, and is packed with beautiful visuals that make you ache for America. From scary looking dogs to grandmas and punks, this is a snapshot of life that’s just passing through. You can pre-order here. And you can have a sneak peek below:
