APAC Effie Awards announce 2015 chairman

Published by

Jarek Ziebinski, the chairman and CEO of Leo Burnett Asia Pacific, has been named as chairman of the 2015 APAC Effie Awards. Next year will mark the second annual APAC Effies, which will continue to honour and celebrate the Asia Pacific region's most outstanding and effective marketing communication work. The inaugural event, which took place in April this year, was a huge success and saw entrants from all of the region's top agencies. Calls for entry in next year's show will begin in the coming weeks.

Ziebinski has a connection with the Effies dating back more than a decade as founder and president of the Polish Effie Awards. He has also served as a judge for the Euro Effies and numerous other awards in the region. He has been working in the industry for 28 years, 18 of which he's spent with Leo Burnett. He spent almost a decade as the chairman and CEO of Leo Burnett Central and Eastern Europe before moving to Singapore in 2009. He was promoted to the role of chairman and CEO for the APAC region earlier this year and oversees over 2,000 employees across 22 cities. His arrival at Leo Burnett APAC appears to have coincided with impressive growth, with the network claiming the title of most awarded agency-network in the region for four years in a row. He is also a member of the Leo Burnett global leadership team, and recently absorbed the responsibilities of Eddie Booth, who stepped down as regional chairman and CEO of Leo Burnett China after 15 years.

Ziebinski said “It is an honour to be invited by APAC Effie to lead the 2015 Awards as Awards Chairman.” He recognises Effie as “The standard of marketing effectiveness excellence and one competition that truly has a global reach,” and that, on a personal level, marketing effectiveness is a subject close to his heart. He believes “It represents the core reason for the existence of our industry,” and says it's his privilege to have the chance to do his part in helping the awards to “Drive marketing effectiveness excellence” in the Asia Pacific region, which he calls “One of the most dynamic regions in the world.”

Anthony Kang, chairman of the APAC Effie committee, said that Effie are “Delighted to have found Jarek for this role,” underlining his “Wealth of experience and remarkable spirit in championing effectiveness amongst others” as prime reasons for his appointment. He calls Ziebinski a “Commendable leader” who is “Undeniably well-suited for the role,” and feels he will “Introduce valuable perspectives and are no doubt the best assets for APAC Effie.”
