A hypnotic fountain built from toilets and baths

Published by

Victoria Plum, the UK’s leading online bathroom retailer, has launched a strangely beautiful and hypnotic new online film simply called “The Fountain.” Conceived and directed by creative agency Alpha Century with special effects by The Machine Shop, the video features a giant fountain constructed entirely from Victoria Plum bathroom products. The video will be housed on the brand’s newly designed website and shared across its various social media channels, as well as YouTube pre-rolls. It's the first shot across the bow from the newly rebranded VictoriaPlum.com (previously known as Victoria Plumb) and is an impressive one at that! The company recently redeveloped all consumer and trade facing communications to emphasise its key benefits including quality design at good value through an online only approach. The changes come after extensive customer research into how people shop for products for their home.

The video opens with an aerial shot of a picturesque town square. Unsuspecting members of the public catch a glimpse of an animatronic carousel, made solely from toilets, baths and sinks. The five metre tall structure features six bathtubs arranged like the petals of a flower that hold six toilets and four basins on top of one another. Once fully revealed, the construction begins to spin and come to life as water flows from the basin and bath taps to fill the vessels and water is sprayed from the shower heads as the structure spins. The Fountain showcases the wide range of products available at Victoria Plum whilst re-enforcing the brand’s support for stylish, design-led and imaginative bathroom concepts.

To celebrate the launch of “The Fountain”, VictoriaPlum.com is giving away a 3 night city break for 2 to Rome - a city famous for its beautiful and historic fountains, courtesy of Icelolly.com, plus £1,000 spending money. To win the city break to Rome, people must watch the film, then guess how many Winchester Slipper Baths were used. The film arrives just in time to promote the brand's Summer sale, and is one of the more inventive concepts we've seen in a while. It's also backed by the elegant Maurice Chevalier classic “You were meant for me,” which gives the whole thing a definite Disney sheen.

Hugo Feiler, founder and managing director of Alpha Century, said: “We know that potential bathroom buyers love to imagine the endless possibilities for how their new room will look and feel, and this video not only showcases VictoriaPlum.com’s product offering, but the inspiration people need when they choose their new bathroom suite.” Ben Padley, chief marketing officer of Victoria Plum, added: “This film Alpha Century has created for us not only encapsulates the spirit and creativity of the brand and showcases the quality of our extensive product range. It delights the public in a way that we hope will be memorable and strike a chord with our customers.” Of the recent changes to the brand, he added: “VictoriaPlum.com is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our customers. These changes to our brand and website have been made to help enhance the customer’s journey and to give them the confidence in the choices they are making, both in terms of products and in us.”
