The very special place that is Taxi Studio - #AnnualSpotlight

Published by

As our 2020 People's Choice Independent Agency of the Year, Taxi Studio certainly isn't new to the Annual nor to winning prizes for award-winning work. Being our fourth ranked design agency on Creativepool, Taxi Studio's profile is an explosion of colour and creativity, with excellent client work popping up at every scroll.

The folks over at Taxi Studio have been awarded a Bronze in 2018, the coveted title of Independent Agency of the Year in 2019, and won over People's Choice last year with a stellar success. That sheer volume of prizes and achievements in the eyes of the community is, alone, a reason not to doubt of the incredible skill and expertise of the entire team.

For this Annual Spotlight, we are taking a peek behind the curtains to learn more about Taxi Studio and the team's experience with The Annual.

Annual 2021 is accepting standard submissions until 27th May. Enter now to grab your slice of creative immortality!

What feels unique about The Annual?

The sense of a connected community with brands and agencies of all shapes and sizes and the broad reach and readership it has.

How does it feel to have won the Creativepool Annual Awards?

Winning People’s Choice last year and Independent Agency the year before has been one of our proudest achievements in the last few years because these categories celebrate every aspect of agency life – and that means the award is shared by the whole team, knowing they all play a crucial part in the win!

Will you be entering again this year? If so, what are your hopes?

Yes definitely… and obviously we’d love to win again! It’s been a challenging year for our whole industry (clients and agencies alike). As an independent we’ve definitely had a tough 12 months so it would be great for our team to get that kind of recognition again – not just for everything we have achieved this year as an agency, but as an endorsement that their camaraderie, hard work and resilience continues to pay off.

Can you tell us more about your winning submissions and what you think impressed the judges?

An agency is always a work in progress and the ongoing pursuit of ‘better’ across many moving parts can be relentless. But we never rest. We’re always moving forward, always learning and asking ourselves how we might do things differently – this drive and determination has been part of Taxi’s DNA for the last 20 years. Our last few submissions have really demonstrated that approach and we surfaced all facets of who we are – our team, our values, our clients, our work, and all the amazing moments that combine to make Taxi a pretty special place.

What advice would you share with other agencies and individuals looking to grab a prize?

Don’t worry about what other agencies are doing. Just be yourselves and let that speak for you.

How do you feel Covid has impacted the creative landscape in 2020? How can The Annual make a difference?

Covid has been a much-needed sharpener for the creative industry and made agencies and brands take a good look at who they are and what they stand for. There is a huge role for publications like the Annual to celebrate, share, and inspire more of that thinking… as well as re-energise the creative community and bring us back together!

What are your hopes for 2021 and beyond?

The other side of Covid there is huge opportunity for an ‘unlearning’ zeitgeist – the chance to do better and do differently. Attitudes and behaviours towards everything from environment and consumption to healthcare and food are all changing... Everything is up for grabs and the collective energy and brain power of the creative industry is well placed to help businesses and government run at those challenges. It’s going to be a really important time for innovation and progress and I’m really excited to see how Taxi and our clients will be part of that.

Snap! Ah…

Sometimes my day just feels precisely like this ‘50’s(?) game of ‘Domino - Circus’. Which is basically ‘match the pairs you idiot’. Or rather more romantically ‘ce jeu amusera les tout petits et les plus grandes.’ As the languid...
