Ten Instagram Resolutions for 2016

Published by

It's time to flush a load of inspiration into 2016 and we're starting with Instagram. Here are the ten resolutions we think you should be following through your feeds this year. Double-tap away...

1. Relax

@gdax is a Buddhist monk living in Tibet and his Instagram account is a glorious mix of colour, tranquillity and landscapes. If you've ever wondered what its like to lead a Monastic lifestyle here's your answer. It's guaranteed to chill you out on even the worst of days.

2. Play with your food

@leesamantha likes to play with her food. A lot. The food artist creates fun, creative and healthy meals for her two young daughters and her account has attracted over half a million followers. Take a look - it's not hard to see why.

3. See New York differently

@joanaavillez is a brilliant young illustrator and we love her take on her native New York. She translates the culture of everyday life around her through beautiful line drawings rather than photography. It's simple and very effective.

4. Re-define the ordinary

@deaks has nearly 15,000 followers on Instagram, and it’s easy to see why. He turns the ordinary into the extraordinary with his super simple photographs of the world around him. One look at his feed is sure to make you see things around you a little differently.

5. Love lettering

@erikmarinovich is a Californian letterist and designer. If typography is your thing, you're going to love his account - it's bursting with fresh visual content and functions as both a sketchbook and a blog.

*

6. Embrace #freeartfriday

@jamfactory is a senior designer at Aardman by day and freelance designer working under the moniker of Jam Factory by night. We love his #freeartfriday Instagram competitions – definitely one to follow if you live in Bristol.

*

7.  Use more colour

@llruth gets us every time with her beautiful explorations of colour. She experiments with art materials in a way that makes you re-discover and re-evaluate your own use of them. Her feed is a real treat for tired eyes.

*

8. Travel the world

@gemagenta is a jeweller and world traveller who snaps the BEST photos of beautiful locations around the world. Geometrics, colours and patterns are a big part of her feed, as well as some very lovely places.

*

9. Spend time at home

@fmuytjens may be J.Crew's menswear director during the week. But at the weekends he'll be found snapping photos of his weekend cottage. All together his feed is a wonderful mix of aesthetics; perfect for cosy and masculine inspiration.

*

10. Get fit

@balletbeautiful is a professional US ballerina whose Instagram feed is sprinkled with beautiful photos of her ballet-based shoots and workouts. Her arty shots promote a strong, healthy lifestyle and a refreshing change for anyone board of yoga-on-a-beach fitness poses.
