How to make the most of your Christmas holiday in 2019

Published by

Christmas is a time for friends, family and a nice break away from the office for most people, and this year, festive loving workers are using a holiday hack to maximise the period in 2019.

The two popular options are either 12 days or 16 days depending on how much time you want off work.

By using public holidays on Christmas Day (Wednesday 25 December), Boxing Day (Thursday 26 December) and New Year's Day (Wednesday 1 January) you can maximise the length of continual holiday this year.

Here are the dates you need to book and how long you'll get to enjoy the festivities.

The first holiday hack is to get a 12-day break by taking five days off work.

  • Days to take as holiday: 23rd, 24th, 27th, 30th, 31st
  • Your Christmas holiday: 21st December to 2nd January

Get a 16-day Christmas break

The second holiday hack is to get a 16-day break by taking seven days off work...

  • Days to take as holiday: 23rd, 24th, 27th, 30th, 31st, 2nd, 3rd
  • Your Christmas holiday: 21st December to 5th January

Office Space provider Offices.co.uk is predicting that Christmas 2019 may potentially be a quiet one for office-based businesses across the UK.

“We are seeing loads of staff cashing in holiday entitlement to maximise their Christmas breaks this year, and it’s definitely going to impact business," said Jonathan Ratcliffe from Offices.co.uk. "Not only that with the General Election on the 12th December, we are expecting an unnerving December.”

Recent research has also shown that companies that celebrate Christmas are more likely to see a boost in productivity through the month of December. Find out how here.
