How did you get into the industry?

It started off a hobby. I was an IT student in the university, second year, I had no plans of being a photographer, although you’ll always find me taking photos of hallways, plants, buildings and anything I found fascinating.

Somewhere late August 2015, I got a wedding gig from a friend’s aunt, which I was reluctant at first because I was a very shy and introverted person. The decision to challenge myself and shoot that wedding is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I decided to go fully as a professional photographer after that. I took a really big chance and set out with nothing but hopes and dreams.

Where are you based now and who do you work for?

I am self-employed and based in Accra, Ghana.

If you weren’t in your current industry, what would you be doing?

*

I would probably be a software engineer or a music marketing expert.

Can you explain your creative process? What makes it unique?

For editorials and concept pieces, I visualize them, sometimes sketch, and look for what I’ll say “the perfect muse” and locations before shoot. Most of my images reflect my introverted personality. I sometimes find inspiration from listening to music, books and films.

How would you describe your style?

Engaging, emotional, relatable and conceptual.

Which individuals do you gain inspiration from? Do you have any heroes in the industry?

*

Mous Lamrabat and also recently I find myself looking more into Helmut Newton’s work.

What tips would you give to aspiring creatives looking for work?

Create a compelling body of work, join platforms such as Creativepool and most importantly post and share your work, everyone that sees it is a potential client or employer.

What tips would you give to other professionals to get more clients?

*

Creating amazing photographs is not enough considering the current competitive photography market. Narrowing down your niche, networking and providing incentives for both existing and potential clients to boost referrals, are some of the things that work for me.

What kind of tools/kit/software could you not do without?

Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom, Capture One Pro, Milanote App

What’s your secret to staying inspired and motivated?

*

The fulfilment I get from seeing mine and my clients’ ideas come to reality motivates me to do more.

What’s the work achievement you’re most proud of?

I am proud of all my works even the old amateurish ones. But some of my cherished ones will be being award Best Photographer in Ghana Fashion & Lifestyle Awards 2017 and a purchase of one of images by the Italian Ambassador to Ghana.

What is the one thing that you would change about the industry?

Exploitation from some clients and agencies
