Higher and higher with Grzegorz Magierowski

Published by

We have talked at length about ambition around these parts, but it's just one of those topics that never get old, come what may.

Grzegorz Magierowski is a 3D artist born in Poland who discovered 3D when he was just 16. He is now working for some international clients, especially in the UK, and he can produce some of the most incredible and detailed renders we've seen in the community.

Not only that; Grzegorz loves complexity and drawing complex shapes. His passion is continuously stimulated by his will to test his own skills, over and over again. And we can definitely see that in the Member Spotlight below.

How did you get into the industry?

I started creating 3D when I was 16. I suddenly realised that 3d software allows to create pretty much everything and I fell in love with the three-dimensional world. It was a pretty natural process of getting into the 3d industry.

*

Where are you based now and who do you work for?

I am based in Poznan, Poland and I am working as a freelancer providing high-end CGIs mostly for British clients.

If you weren’t in your current industry, what would you be doing?

I would definitely need to do creative things. I would be an architect, I guess.

*

Can you explain your creative process?

Depends on the project I am working on. I do lots of lighting testing which is so important in my work.

*

How has technology affected the way you work (if at all)?

Technology has affected me from the first day I used 3d software. Nowadays, everything you can make much faster. It helps you to focus on such things like composition of an image.

What’s your secret to staying inspired and motivated?

Travelling, exploring new places. It allows me to stay fresh and inspired.

*

What’s the work achievement you’re most proud of?

I am most proud of projects which are very demanding in terms of complexity like masterplans of big cities and aerial views with lots of geometry.

How do you recharge away from the office?

I love reading books and travelling. I can't wait for the next place I will visit.

*

What advice would you give to other aspiring creatives looking for work?

You need to be open for new technologies which are ahead of us and treat software just as a tool, explore the world.

*

What’s your one big hope for the future of the creative industries?

Faster rendering... oh. wait, we have got Unreal!
