When I think of an eye, (which I find to be the most interesting part of the human body), I think of a smooth, flat surface... I am very wrong! Photographer Suren Manvelyan shows us just how textured they can be with this unique series of images. These intriguing macro photos reveal just how complex and intricate the human eye actually is. Getting in real close, the images expose an almost foreign substance or land. Browsing through Manvelyan's Human Eyes series, one can lose sense of what they're actually looking at.
It's hard to grasp the idea that you are actually looking at an eye, but rather landscapes of craters or something from outer space. Manvelyan manages to capture every unbelievable detail of the iris and pupil accompanied by giant eyelashes peaking in through the frame. There's something that's both eerie and beautiful about each of the images. Can you believe this is what our eyes look like up close?
