A window into the stunning world of 3D Artist Marta Caetano | #MemberSpotlight

Published by

It is always hugely inspiring to look at the work of a talented 3D artist. Marta Caetano's impressive renders are no different.

A freelancer with a broad experience in the 3D field, Marta dreams of a fairer industry where the value of artistry and creativity is recognised and has been known to find inspiration from seemingly anywhere and everywhere. To be a 3D artist must be a truly wonderful thing – drawing inspiration from the world itself to craft your creations. Nowhere is this more true and evident than in Marta's beautiful works below.

In this Member Spotlight, we are learning more about Marta Caetano, an incredibly talented 3D artist from Tomar, Portugal.

How did you get into the industry?

I have always loved interior design, and after a master degree in social psychology I decided to take interior design classes, and then I met the 3D world.

Where are you based now and who do you work for?

At the moment, I am working at Tomar, Portugal, and I am a freelancer.

If you weren’t in your current industry, what would you be doing?

I think I would probably be doing something in the arts & crafts field, ceramics, restoring furniture, gardens.

*

Can you explain your creative process? What makes it unique?

I usually start off from an inspirational picture/reference, something that gives me the tone for the space I am working on. Then, I try the different layouts, objects, and all the pieces until I find what I think brings the whole space come together.

How would you describe your style?

In the projects I do when I have the freedom to style it, I usually go for a minimalistic, comfortable, simple, econatural style. With lots of plants.

Which individuals do you gain inspiration from? Do you have any heroes in the industry?

There are so many talented people in this area, it s really hard to choose one. I just discovered a Russian 3D artist that I just love, Alyona Dulskaya, she makes beautiful things, but there are so many more!

What tips would you give to aspiring creatives looking for work?

I think the biggest tip I could give is practice, the more you do, the more you learn, the easier it gets. And always ask for help, It took me a while until I got this one, but it’s so much easier when you can exchange knowledge!!

What tips would you give to other professionals to get more clients?

Just do your best!!!

What kind of tools/kit/software could you not do without?

Well for my 3D work I could not do without 3DS max, corona renderer and photoshop.

What’s your secret to staying inspired and motivated?

The inspiration part I think it’s the easiest because you see amazing and beautiful things every day. The motivation part, for me, it’s the difficult one, sometimes the beginning is very difficult until you learn how to work with the software, then you have to find the clients, or someone willing to give you a chance, and that might take a while. But if it is something you really love doing, surround yourself with people who believe in you, try to keep your focus, and go for it!!

What’s the work achievement you’re most proud of?

Hmmm… I guess I would have to say a bedroom (in terracotta colour) I made, in terms of design and 3D.

*

What is the one thing that you would change about the industry?

Actually, to be honest, some workers (ahahah). There are a lot of bad workers that basically lower our value in the market. And it’s so difficult to compete with such low prices, that makes it almost impossible to get some jobs.

Any websites, books or resources you would recommend?

Well, for inspiration (3d or interior design) I recommend pinterest and archdaily. In terms of 3D I recommend Ander Alencar (he has a simple way to explain the software), and in terms of interior design, you have Instagram, where you can find every thing you like.
