‘Always make a plan, starting with a pencil and paper no matter what you're working on you need a starting point'

Describe your work in one sentence.
A freelance front end developer with a passion for new and creative technologies with a full understanding of user experience and user experience design.

What's the most important thing you've learnt in your line of work?
Always make a plan, starting with a pencil and paper no matter what you're working on you need a starting point. There are too many people that work without thinking it through first, I like to make a quick plan before any work I do and make a point or reevaluating if the goalposts change.

What attracted you to your chosen field?
I really like the pace of change in the digital industry, I think having the potential to keep on learning and adapting to new technologies keeps the industry on its toes and makes communication vital.

Tell us about your best project to date.
Best non work related project is helping organise a meet up called freelance friday, where freelancers can get together over a pint and share information and contacts. Best paid for project was working on Chelsea F.C Bluewing site, it was my first build role as a senior and it ended up getting 100/100 cross browser compatibility as part of an award.

What sets you apart from your competitors?
I think about what the end users want, not what the client wants. Being a freelancer I also make a point of building a quick relationship with the team I'm put with, I think being able to communicate with fellow employees from the off results in a more productive end product.

*

Tell us a random fact about yourself.
Timmy Mallet has hit me with the original mallet.

If you could work on any project for any company/organisation, what would it be and who would it be for?
I would really like to work with Poke on some of their creative projects, they come up with some really interesting ideas from the hack days and would be great to be part of one of those.

What's your favourite bit of kit?
Newcastle football kit, full on shirt, shorts socks and shin pads! Failing that I'm never far from my iPhone.

What is your favourite app?
Hype Machine Radio.

What frustrates you the most about your job?
I get really frustrated by the miss understanding of technologies by some clients and those trying to sell something they are unclear on. Somewhere along the line there is a lack of education/understanding when a new buzz word arrives on the scene.

*

What pearl of wisdom can you offer to someone thinking about starting out in your industry?
Talk to and meet as many people as you can, don't just sit behind a desk, get out there and get involved at events and meet ups, and if there are none near you then start one!

If you could have ONE super power, what would it be?
Immortality. I bloody love life.

What do you like about Creativepool?
There is a general understanding of the industry which means there isn't any useless information or unsuitable jobs posted. It is pleasantly easy to find items of relevance to your field.

What's your favourite song of all time?
Johnny too bad by the Slickers

And finally, what can a prospective customer expect from you?
I treat every piece of work as if it's my own, I work to the highest standards and thrive on making sites pixel perfect.

The Brands Pushing Back Against Fast Fashion #SustainabilityMonth

Fashion has always been anathema to me. You could diplomatically refer to my wardrobe as “functional” and I’m unlikely to spend more than a few fleeting seconds deciding what to wear in the morning. I do, however, understand the...
