5 minutes with... Laura Jordan Bambach - LBi

Wake up tomorrow and do something completely differently to any way you've done it before. It's surprising how refreshing it is.

Tell us what you do for a living and who you work for?
Executive Creative Director at LBi (Lost Boys international).

What does that involve?

Working across a whole range of LBi's clients (shared with my partner Dr. Gill), coming up with a million ideas and curating millions more... Looking out for opportunities, trying to grow the creativity in the office, drinking a lot of chicken soup from the vending machine near my desk, writing myself to-do lists on my phone, my desktop, my hands, the backs of envelopes... Being a generally very happy and busy camper.

How did you get started in the industry?
I started working on geekgirl in 1994 (thanks Rosie X!), and soon after began my own digital design agency while I was still at college in Australia. I ended up in the UK in 2000 transferring from deepend Sydney to the London mothership. A good move that.

What would you be doing if you weren't doing that?
Training a flea circus, sword-swallowing and doing a bit of macramé in my spare time... Which is not unlike what I do now anyway.

What's your all-time favourite piece of creative work?
Probably the complete works of The Pixies, or maybe Nagi Noda, or anyone here on this website.

What do you love about your job?
Embracing change every day, the amazing people, being able to get my teeth sunk into really tasty projects, being able to look at brands across multiple touch points and creating relationships, not just campaigns. Working with the media planners. Giving birth to great ideas and watch them grow... I love being surprised by a gem of an idea from someone. Running about feeling inspired and energised. Having fun on client work and seeing the potential of something grow into a reality. The chicken soup.

What do you hate about your job?
Waiting to hear about results of pitches, waiting for sign-off, waiting to get going on a project... I get far too excited and night-before Christmassy.

Tell us your favourite website
Domestic - it's my addiction!

If you could give one piece of advice, what would it be?
Wake up tomorrow and do something completely differently to any way you've done it before. It's surprising how refreshing it is.

The Brands Pushing Back Against Fast Fashion #SustainabilityMonth

Fashion has always been anathema to me. You could diplomatically refer to my wardrobe as “functional” and I’m unlikely to spend more than a few fleeting seconds deciding what to wear in the morning. I do, however, understand the...
