ABOUT
THE BRIEF
We were honoured with evolving the identity and packaging of Spanish olive icon Perelló back in 2020, a brand that has been adored and unchanged for decades. Perello required a refresh to enable scope for wider product offerings whilst retaining its charm, heritage and brand equity. This extension of product scope was the basis of our latest project for the Perello brand with their launch into the nuts and snacks category.
THE SOLUTION
In an age driven by a pressure to constantly innovate and follow trends, staying true to the simplistic, down to earth authenticity was the very real and refreshing appeal in our original brand development challenge. We began by making their core brand mark more functional to work across a wider range of products. We tightened the typography and created an ownable asset, which can be seen in the olive ‘O’. We developed a heritage colour system utilising a palette born from the original, and developed a secondary palette for increased flexibility across new product lines, seen in this nuts and snacks project specifically. Originally, one illustration was used across all packaging, making it difficult to identify their contents. As part of the original re-brand we created a series of illustrations to identify each new product clearly, further developed for the nuts and snacks range with unique illustrations created for each flavour/product type.
Not only did we create the brand and packaging architecture for Perello, but the new nuts and snacks range was also at the heart of the latest photoshoot, executed and art directed by the team at Mad River to align with brand aesthetic.
Visual environments were depicted to transport the consumer to warm, sun dappled, relaxed and joyful, Mediterranean social eating occasions.
Simon Gater – Creative Director said, “With Perello we wanted to ensure that we delivered an evolution of the brand identity, which felt contemporary and was functional across their range of products, but still held true to their core values and iconic identity. The Perello brand has its heart in the Mediterranean and we crafted the look and feel of the brand to reflect that, and our latest packaging range of nuts and snacks were no exception.”
