These were my entries for the D2 Challenge N.18 – Senna.

The brief was simple: create a piece of artwork using the 3D car models provided by the organisers at the D2 Conferences.

Concept:

Inspired by the Greek myth of Icarus, this piece reflects Ayrton Senna’s unrelenting quest for freedom, ambition, and the thrill of speed - a passion that burned within him since boyhood.

Like Icarus, Senna was given his ‘wings’ by his father, whose support helped him rise to become one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time.

Both men soared higher than most dare dream, driven by the need to push beyond what seemed possible. And like Icarus, Senna’s story ended in tragedy - yet it stands as a powerful testament to the human spirit’s willingness to embrace risk in pursuit of greatness.

Senna was always flying close to the sun. His time was short, but his light will never fade.

Although my work wasn’t shortlisted, I truly enjoyed the challenge. It pushed me to learn new techniques in 3D and I’m proud of how the images turned out. :)
