Alison Gross is a Scottish folk ballad originally collected by Anna Gordon Brown, unusual for her time, as female folklorists and musicians were often discouraged and overlooked.
It tells the story of a man who was turned into a "wyrm" (dragon), for refusing the advances of Alison Gross, "The ugliest witch in the North country".

Despite the popularity of Scottish folklore, it seems that there are very few representations of North East Scotland/ Aberdeenshire folklore. I wanted to change that- so I applied for a VACMA grant, and this is what I have so far.
