ABOUT
I do not have access or the rights to share most of the projects I have worked on, so I am sharing photos from the short film, "Moths" that I produced I can provide a Vimeo link to the film.
"Moths" was shot in two production stages- summer and winter. The summer portion contained a highly detailed visual effects shot that required a set build with removable wall and 6 months to finish.
The winter shoot was shot in Michigan during the first polar vortex in 2013 in the worst snowstorm that Grand Rapids has seen in 40 years.
The production team received a production grant from Aldamisa Entertainment for $13,500 and raised $20,000 on Indiegogo.
Synopsis: The chills of winter blow through a rural Midwestern community in 1944 and Sam Whitaker, a lonely 9-year-old, awaits her father’s return from the World War 2 front lines. One day, Sam has a chance run-in with a disfigured older boy named Frank, who is known for his monstrous appearance as the town outcast. Despite the harsh criticism from her peers, Sam befriends Frank, and learns a lesson about true friendship while nurturing a rare breed of moths.
