ABOUT
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
rLoop is a globally crowdsourced engineering team focused on developing innovative technologies, including its work on Hyperloop transportation. The team gained recognition through the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition, where engineers from around the world collaborated to develop advanced Hyperloop concepts.
I was commissioned by rLoop to create a series of bespoke illustrated posters that introduced and promoted its vision for the future of transportation. The aim was to capture not only the engineering ambition behind Hyperloop technology but also its potential impact on everyday life, including faster travel, future holidays, and improved global connectivity.
The illustrations explored a future where journeys could become significantly shorter, transforming the way people travel between cities. Concepts such as travelling from London to Paris in minutes helped communicate the possibilities of high-speed transportation and how it could save time, create new opportunities, and change the experience of modern travel.
THE BRIEF:
The brief was to create a visual communication piece that showcased the future of Hyperloop technology and reflected rLoop’s pioneering approach. The posters needed to communicate a sense of speed, innovation, and exploration while making a complex engineering concept accessible through engaging visual storytelling.
The artwork needed to inspire audiences by showing not only the technology itself but also the lifestyle possibilities it could create, from everyday commuting to international travel and future tourism.
MY APPROACH
My approach began with researching Hyperloop technology and developing an understanding of rLoop’s engineering concepts, technical documentation, and long-term ambitions. I explored how illustration could transform a highly technical subject into an inspiring and accessible visual experience.
The design process involved translating complex engineering ideas into detailed illustrations that balanced technical accuracy with imagination. Through dynamic compositions, futuristic environments, and strong visual narratives, I aimed to create artwork that captured both the scale of the technology and its impact on the future of human movement.
The illustrations combined elements of transportation design, architecture, and futuristic landscapes to create a vision of how cities, journeys, and travel experiences could evolve.
THE RESULT:
The final illustrations became part of rLoop’s visual communications, helping present the Hyperloop concept in a compelling and accessible way. The posters represented rLoop’s ambition to push the boundaries of transportation technology while highlighting how innovation could reshape the way people experience travel.
The outcome was a collection of artwork that brought a futuristic concept to life, demonstrating how illustration can simplify complex ideas, inspire curiosity, and communicate the possibilities of tomorrow’s world through thoughtful visual design.
