ABOUT

This temporary exhibition told the story of the UK Parliament’s abolition of the slave trade, in Westminster Hall, the site of many of the notorious court cases concerning the slave trade – in 2007.

At the heart of the exhibition was a recreation of the House of Commons, where the original debates were bought to life in powerful and unexpected ways sing audio recordings of contemporaneous speeches. Like MPs, visitors sat on benches and listened to a dramatised version of past events, hearing the voice of Wilberforce as well as those of the anti-abolitionists.
