ABOUT
For four years I was Editor and Creative Director of Pretty Litter Magazine, an international arts and lifestyle coffee table publication, based and made in Brighton.
From conception of the brand and birth of the magazine, to sending the final pages to print, there was not one area of this company that I wasn't heavily responsible for, be it through the editorial framework and management, to the physical production and activity within the magazine and company itself. I oversaw and directed – sometimes shot – photo shoots, curated exhibitions, events and creative competitions, designed and wrote the magazine’s pages and the brand’s promotional materials, as well as being responsible for the business and company running related roles.
"Pretty Litter is an extremely dynamic and diverse arts and lifestyle publication. Designed as a high end street magazine, it merges the high quality and accomplished coffee table publication with the cool edginess of the underground music focused zine. And with a dedicated following between the ages of 16 and 60 it was important we designed and maintained an intelligent yet exciting and innovative product and brand.
The magazine features everything from street art to performance art, along with European music festivals, creative entrepreneurs, cutting edge illustrators, artists and photographers, new music and fashion. Pretty Litter is all about picking the best of the best and really exciting its readership in ways they have never known from a magazine before.
The publication was originally intended for the Brighton market, but with its popularity and success it quickly evolved into an international title selling overseas, and it often found itself on the streets of New York and Amsterdam as whenever possible we’d take a suitcase load or two on our travels, making sure it landed in some of the best art galleries, cafes and creative spots on the scene."
