About me

Hi, I'm Lydia Elizabeth Jacob, a South Indian girl, brought up in the Middle East. I moved to India six years ago to learn about my roots and culture and to be independent.

I aim to be a storyteller that invokes emotion and realization. One of my goals is to publish a book I've written and illustrated, which will be impactful for the people it was meant for.

I try to understand and observe the people around me and use these insights in the best way I can. I've worked on projects that include branding, animation, and publication.

Reading fiction, watching fiction and writing for the same category is something that I enjoy doing, which in turn leads to inspired narratives for which I illustrate. Some of my favourite authors include Jane Austen, Dan Brown, J. K. Rowling and J. R. R. Tolkien.

When in school, theatre and drama was an interest of mine, and I took part in a couple of plays and wrote one too. My hobbies include singing, playing the piano, keyboard and guitar, and have performed on stage multiple times. I enjoy travelling, and I try to do so as much as I can, often spontaneously. I have an affinity for the beauty, and the calming depths of the water, probably because I was brought up on an island. It'd be an understatement if I say that I love being in the water. Baking is another hobby of mine, often doing so for others than for myself, and is the only reason for which I enter the kitchen. I enjoy experimenting with makeup and consider it to be an art. I'll always be fascinated with the idea that one can change the way they look with just a couple of cosmetic products.

An ideal day for me would be to sit in a comfortable corner, with country music in the background, a coffee mug in hand and with either a book or sketchbook in the other.
