ABOUT

Gurseva is a UK-registered charity, and its motto is 'We are here to serve.' Their volunteers provide help, support and key resources to vulnerable people in need, like the homeless. They also focus on supporting the environment by organising tree-planting events.

I became aware of Gurseva through another project I worked on, the British Sikh Report, and then I volunteered in one of their tree-planting events in 2018.

In 2020 during the pandemic, they heavily helped provide food to the ones most suffering and it was at that point that they got in touch regarding redesigning their logo and I offered my skills to support them in such a difficult period.

More recently in 2025, they got some budget to design some collateral materials related to their tree-planting events:
- an informative booklet about the benefits of community tree-planting and case studies of the Crane Valley (West London), the area where they are mainly focusing
- a template to use when promoting the events on social media and
- branded t-shirts and hoodies.

Sustainable Design Approach
I suggested to get the booklet printed on FSC paper. FSC paper, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), ensures that paper products come from responsibly managed forests, promoting sustainable forestry practices and protecting the environment.

I also advised printing a roll-up banner with a QR code for people to scan and read/download the booklet rather than get a printed copy and lower the environmental impact.
