Lucy Hamlet Freelance copywriter

ABOUT

Working with The First Word agency on the First Great Western rebrand to Great Western Railway (GWR), I rewrote GWR's Passenger's Charter in the company's brand new tone of voice. This included making the information more user friendly as well as clear and on-brand.

In a letter to GWR from the independent safety and economic regulator for Britain's railways, the regulator actually commented on the changes (a rare occurrence according to the client):

"We welcome the steps you [GWR] have taken to fully redraft both your passenger and policy documents, making them simpler, easier to read and more user friendly.”

Office of Rail and Road (ORR), February 2016

This work was part of a much wider tone of voice project for GWR, which won a silver for 'Best use of copy style/tone of voice' in the Transform Awards 2017.
