Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to apply for the Digital Copywriter position as advertised on the Creativepool website. I currently work as a PR and marketing consultant for a number of high profile technology clients, but I would now very much like to focus my career on copywriting, in a role based in London. This position would be an ideal opportunity for me to apply my skills, expand my experience and further my career. Furthermore, I believe that I have all of the skills and attributes required to excel in this role.
In working towards my English Literature degree, while working as a journalist and as a PR and marketing consultant, I have developed excellent written and verbal communication skills. As a journalist I liaised with magazine and newspaper editors on a daily basis by telephone and email. I am now in regular liaison with the press, advertising sales people, designers, venue staff and of course, clients, with whom it is important that I am clear, articulate and professional at all times. Having written for many national magazines and newspapers, I also have very strong writing skills. In my current role, I am required to work on a variety of PR and marketing materials, always ensuring my writing is accurate, interesting and appropriate to its intended audience.
Throughout my academic and professional life I have been required to work to deadlines and have found that I thrive under pressure. I have excellent time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to organise and manage a busy workload. With a number of clients to service, I am required to manage my time carefully to ensure each account is maintained to a high standard, against each individual budget. I am required to liaise with editors who have strict deadlines to work to and I must also ensure that our clients' projects are managed and progressed to deadline.
My IT and social media skills are advanced and I enjoy research, which I have been required to do throughout my academic and professional career. I am a fast learner and in my current role I have often been required to quickly achieve a thorough understanding of previously unfamiliar subject matter.
