ABOUT

The Tohoku earthquake and tsunami disaster in 2011 shocked me since I have family relations to Japan. I decided to design and print this very personal poster to raise funds to help the victims.
The dot is a single drop of red ink spreading on a wet sheet of paper, which in the making, became a fitting metaphor for a tsunami. All the money raised was donated to the British Red Cross Tsunami Appeal. I sold 100 limited edition posters through a single page website.

Exhibition
In 2012 the poster became part of the book and travelling exhibition “Graphic Advocacy – International Posters for the Digital Age” shown in the Art Directors Club NYC as well as Mexico City, China and South Korea. Additionally I was invited to design another poster for an exhibition commemorating the 70 years anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.
