ABOUT
In my PhD, I researched the existing good practices in assistive technology service provision worldwide and at developing countries. More specifically, I have looked into
the current situation regarding the provision of wheelchair services in my hometown Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The aim was to understand how these services function in order to provide context-specific and participatory interventions and recommendations to improve the design of current assistive technology services. In the light of Design Thinking and Service Design, I developed and tested interventions for the service. Thousands of service users are now bene ted in the process of identifying an appropriate wheelchair for them, reducing the health risks of a poorly fitted wheelchair, reducing the device abandonment and waste of government resources.
