Concept: A cover design project for the Covent Gardener Autumn issue 2020, illustrating the slogan "All that is Covent Garden, Past, Present and Future".

Execution/Results: The cover design proposal illustrates a graceful, densely symbolic depiction bringing together the human and the natural in a hymn to the unity of time. Fulcrum of the representation is the majestic rose-plant, of which the differently aged flowers make a clear allusion to time and the unfolding of life. Around them, three dancers run their cycle echoed by the butterflies and the snails, drawing a gentle helical movement heading above, where the logo “CG” sits. Crowning the scene, a foliage wreath on the model of folk festivals' paraphernalia further underlines the all-encompassing reach of time and the cyclical nature of things. Stylistically, the unfinished drawing style is in itself suggestive of an in-becoming action, hence suggesting a smooth and dynamic transition from Past through Present to Future. But one free of any nostalgic or retrospective elements: a dance of joy.
