About me

I graduated from a full time graphic design course and began working in studios in London and the South East of England. Firstly producing artwork for house journals and press ads in a studio prior to the introduction of the digital platform. I spent five years working for an advertising agency in EC1, where I became adept at producing visuals using Magic Markers. I then went to work for an agency in Hertfordshire for three years before moving to the Aylesbury area where I worked for the tobacco company, Rothmans. It was here that I started as a visualised using traditional methods, then in 1994 the studio moved exclusively to Macs and colour printers. It was a seamless transition for me and I took to using Photoshop and Quark and Freehand with a good degree of confidence. In 2008 I made the move from being a full time employee to working as a freelance Graphic Designer. I have used my extensive experience to create results for a list of local clients, such as a local garage and a chain of health and beauty shops. I am married to Karen and have a grown up daughter, Liane, who is herself the mother of three lovely girls, who make me a very proud granddad! When not designing I enjoy playing keyboards and bass guitar and going to the gym, and occasionally doing a bit of gardening. Oh, and I love photography as well!

Skills

I studied graphic design on a full-time basis at college for three years. I have good drawing skills either with a pencil or using a wacom tablet. The onus of the course I was on was typography. Since 1994 I have been using Macs to produce design work. I cut my teeth with Photoshop, Quark Xpress and Freehand, and have been using Adobe CS since 2004. My knowledge or the creative suite is consumate.

The main sector I have worked in is design for print. Whether in the form of brochures or advertisements or POS, I have an extensive level of experience in both designing and producing artwork in this sector.
