ABOUT
Description
I created the winning livery design for Oracle Red Bull Racing’s ‘Make Your Mark Las Vegas’ competition, a global initiative that invited fans to design a special edition race car for the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix. My concept was selected from thousands of entries and went on to be raced by reigning World Champion Max Verstappen, who drove the car to victory on race weekend.
Brief
Oracle Red Bull Racing challenged fans to create a livery that would capture the spirit of Las Vegas and stand out under the lights of Formula 1's newest night race. The brief called for a bold, visually distinctive design that reflected both the energy of the city and the excitement of elite motorsport.
Summary
As both designer and entrant, I developed a concept inspired by the neon lights, casino culture and larger-than-life atmosphere of the Las Vegas Strip. The design, titled ‘Two of a Kind’, combined vibrant colour, bold graphic elements and references to both the city and Oracle Red Bull Racing's championship-winning driver line-up.
Following a public vote of more than 24,000 people, my design was selected as the overall winner and transformed into the team's official Las Vegas Grand Prix livery. I was invited behind the scenes at Oracle Red Bull Racing's Milton Keynes headquarters to see the design brought to life, before travelling to Las Vegas for the official reveal and race weekend activities.
The project represented a unique opportunity to apply creative thinking on a global stage, designing for one of the world's most recognisable sporting brands and seeing the work executed at the highest level of international motorsport.
Successes
The design was chosen as the winning entry in a global competition and featured on Oracle Red Bull Racing's Formula 1 car throughout the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend. Selected through a public vote of over 24,000 people, the livery received international media coverage and was featured by major motorsport and sports publications. The project culminated in a remarkable result as Max Verstappen drove the car to victory, creating a true once-in-a-lifetime moment and one of the most high-profile pieces of work in my creative career.
