ABOUT
SPAZA SHOPS
A spaza shop is an informal convenience store/business in Africa, usually run from home or on the street pavement. They serve the purpose of supplementing incomes selling everyday small to larger items like industrial steel, appliances, clothing and other goods. These shops grew as a result of sprawling townships that made travel to formal shopping centres more difficult or expensive.
I also captured a little of the surrounding countryside to supplement this fascinating 'commercial' culture.
