Liam's work

About Liam

Dear Sir/Madam

I am aware that you are currently seeking an Instructional Designer I believe that I would be a great asset to the team as I have a strong understanding of the e-Learning industry as a whole. I hope that you will take the time to read through my application and my CV.

I am a hardworking individual that is always punctual and is always able to work within a team or as an individual. I am always looking to push my abilities and learn new skills, I have a strong passion for graphic design and providing quality e-Learning products.

During my final year of school I had gained a lot of new skills these include the ability to use Photoshop, Movie Maker and camera equipment. I used some of these skills once I had left school in June 2012, at this point I had already applied for a games design course at Barnsley College.

From I was enrolled onto the Games Design course, this course gave me a lot of skills that I now use in the workplace. I now have knowledge on how games work and can incorporate this into my designs, this will be useful for level 4 as gamification is one of the units that I will need to learn about, which I have a brief idea of already. I had also managed to strengthen my skills in Photoshop while working on ideas for my game, this included box art and posters for its release. After completing my games design course with a grade of MPP (Merit, Pass, Pass) I stumbled upon an Apprenticeship Diploma, this diploma is what I am continuing to do today.

I first began this Apprenticeship Level 3 Diploma in Digital Learning Design on August 26th 2014. When this course first began myself and my fellow colleagues did not know much about it, we were shown a lot of new things such as Adobe Captivate, during this time we were learning a lot about e-Learning and how it could change the way people learn. Now we are creating engaging and interactive e-Learning packages for the college as well as managing our time to do coursework and also arranging meetings with tutors (Subject Matter Experts) to use their resources that will then give us an idea of how we can approach the design and make it more fun for the learners.

While working here at Barnsley College I have a gained a lot of new skills that I thought I never had. Adobe Captivate is one of them, using this authoring tool is how we create our e-Learning packages, an example of these e-Learning packages would be the Sexual Health project I created for engineering to teach students about the dangers of sex and how to keep safe. I also created the Employer Rights and Responsibilities Package, it was once a booklet that has now been made to look better in design and a lot more professional.

I hope you take the time to look at my CV and I look forward to hearing from you.

yours sincerely,

Liam Eaton
