A skilled visual creative with 5+ years of experience in photojournalism, production, corporate consultation, and public speaking. Passionate about storytelling and communications, multidisciplinary approaches, and hands-on efforts to see projects through from ideation to execution.
Lexi Parra is a Venezuelan-American photographer, producer, and educator based between Caracas and New York. Her work focuses on youth culture, migration, the personal effects of inequality and violence, and themes of resilience.
As a multimedia artist and journalist, in stills or motion, her style reflects connection and beauty.
Parra has worked with The Washington Post, The New York Times, NPR, The New Yorker and others, as a photojournalist. She has crafted audiovisual campaigns for clients such as the UN and the World Food Programme.
She is the community manager at Women Photograph, as well as a member of both WP and Diversify Photo databases. Parra has been shortlisted for a Marie Stafford Award (2023), was the recipient of the Diversify x Getty Inclusion Grant (2022) and is a Pulitzer Center Reporting Grantee (2021). Her degree is in Photography and Human Rights, from Bard College.
Parra is the founder of Project MiRA , a photo education initiative that fosters visual literacy and empowerment with young women in the barrios of Caracas. Project MiRA has been supported by The US Embassy and the Davis Peace Prize.
Due to her multidisciplinary experience and dedication, she has had the opportunity to speak to people all over the world as a cultural actor, artist and consultant - from corporations like Google to organizations like Consortium in the .
