ABOUT
o support the launch of the new LEGO Home Alone set, Solarflare partnered with one of LEGO’s agencies of choice Wasserman to produce a global campaign that worked across stores and digital using augmented reality as a means to create engagement and buzz.
Solarflare used the 8th Wall augmented reality platform to produce a fun game that challenged visitors to find Kevin and objects from the Home Alone film that were scattered around their real home. We then created a filter that would react when you pulled Kevin’s iconic screaming face to be shared through social media. We also built a microsite to host these experiences as well as being a means to enter competitions and find out more.
Launched globally, the experience was supported by 6 physical life-size LEGO Mini-Figures of Kevin McCallister placed within high-footfall locations in New York, Chicago, Toronto, Berlin, Brussels, and Paris. This activation successfully captured the imagination of Home Alone fans, resulting in over 2,500 earned media articles with a 12BN reach. Additionally, 38% of these articles included direct links to the LEGO website, leading to a 326% increase in website visits. Over 87,500 people found Kevin, with 54,000 entering the competition, resulting in a sold-out set that exceeded the sales plan by 18%
