The brief was to design a new restaurant space for Salford Museum & Art Gallery to expand on it's already successful cafe area. Along with the redesign of this space additional areas were added to improve circulation within the building.

The final proposal reflected the rich industrial heritage of the Salford area and brought new ways to show archive pieces within the dining area. References were made throughout the design to the history of the building and care was taken so this new area did not overshadow the core purpose of the building. At the client's request the space was also configured to allow the restaurant to operate independently of the museum to allow for more flexible opening hours.
