Leanne Wallace Make-up Artist

ABOUT

The Wrath Of The Phoenix was a Final Major Project for University to attempt to get into the Film and TV industry. Although there are lots of areas for improvement as far as prosthetics go, it helps me showcase my skillset as an all rounder make-up artist.

The concept was about a girl called Zoe, who goes to prom with her boyfriend. Later in the evening, they drive to a cliff area and the boyfriend tries to take advantage of Zoe, to which she tries to fight him off, this then leads to the boyfriend beating her up. Thinking she is dead, the boyfriend sets the car on fire and Zoe was found burnt to death in the wreckage. Her brother pours a serum into the ashes which causes the particles to reform into a new body for Zoe, except she has permanent burn scars on her body and her eye areas are completely damaged. Angry about this, she dresses up as a phoenix superhero to seek revenge on the boy who wronged her.

The execution of the make-ups were to present them in linear order so the pictures are telling the story to show what happened to this character, each make-up has different skills such as beauty make-up, out of the kit beaten make-up and prosthetics, as well as hairstyling and wig styling incorporated to complete the whole picture.

The results from the project was a mixed bag. The first two make-ups were clean and realistic, but the burns (cannot be shown due to terms and conditions with the model) and overall Superhero make-up was unfinished and/or too cartoony to fit the superhero aspect of the project. However, this serves as a lesson so I know what to improve on the next time I create burns and injuries in the future.
