About me

Leandro Alvarez is a brazilian creative living and working in Portugal.
He started his career in Brazil before moving to the influential Y&R Portugal as a copywriter, helping to shape the Portuguese creative landscape since them.
After a successful spell at Y&R first as a copywriter and them as the Creative Supervisor of the junior teams, Leandro joined Ammirati Puris Lintas and helped to transform an extremely conventional agency into one of the hottest shops in the market. This new vitality made Lintas grew to be the country's 4th largest agency. At the same time it became one of the top creative agencies in Portugal having won its first Lion in Cannes under Leandro's leadership.
This process caught Leo Burnett's attention and he was invited to join its ranks in 1999 with a similar task. Almost immediately Leo Burnett Portugal abandoned its traditional low profile with works for FIAT, Kellogs and Galp Energia (state owned petrol and gas company) and entered the top 10 creative offices in the whole network (actually #6).
Leandro then accepted the challenge to lead TBWA\LISBOA into the XXI Century, joining the "Pirates" in 2001 first as Vice President and then as the agency President and Chief Creative Officer. At TBWA he has worked for some of the most important brands in Portugal winning accolades such as "Campaign of the Decade" and "Idea of the Year" along the way. Through the years his work for IKEA, McDonald's, Volvo, Sociedade Ponto Verde and TMN - to name a few - has been recognised at major national and international Creative Festivals as The NY Festival, Cannes, Eurobest, Epica, Clio, Ad Age, Prémios à Eficácia and CCP Festival.

In 2014 he became Creative Director at Large, developing work for McDonald's globally and on the 23 markets where TBWA handles the McDonald's brand.

Leandro is married and has 2 absolute wonderful kids.
