ABOUT
Advertisement focusing on the topic of equality, specifically regarding 'House-Wives' and 'House-Husbands'. The goal was to advertise that housework is still work and we wanted to prove that either male or female can stay at home and contribute without being perceived as 'lazy'. We decided to swap the traditional gender roles to emphasise this point. Through this project, we hope to change audience’s perception of being a housewife/househusband and recognize it as equal contribution.
We decided to add an amount of financial earning to the film to show the audience how much it would cost to hire someone to both cook and clean throughout the day, this is to prove housework is still work and should be valued as such. If either one of the main characters were being paid for the housework, an earning of around seven pounds per hour would be received. We believed this further proves our point, we also made the decision to add text throughout that included statistics and information about how many people in the UK work as house-wives or house-husbands. Despite the large number it is still something that is not often talked about.
