ABOUT

Within the Spring/ Summer 2017 trend Edgelands, WGSN explains how traditional crafts such as patchwork are back on trend. After experimenting with patchwork a lot during my time at university, I wanted to produce a co-ordinated collection of homeware products that showcased my skill in working with this technique. I designed and created a patchwork armchair, lampshade and a range of cushions, which combined with my ‘Butterflies, Blooms and Geometrics’ collection formed my final major project and creative degree show.

The patchwork armchair, lampshade, and cushions showcase my use of many textile techniques that I have become proficient in during the course of my studies. These include screen printing, dyeing, cyanotype, transfer printing and free machine embroidery. By combining these techniques, I have created an interior collection that explores a unique approach to using a technique that had been around for centuries.
