About me

I graduated from The University of Cape Town with a four year, honours degree in Fine Art, a course which is equally academic and practical. My major in both my undergraduate and postgraduate course was photography. I have an in-depth knowledge of using studio lighting as well as being able to use a variety of cameras. I completed a Photoshop module as an elective in my third year. In my final year exhibition I gained excellent experience working with the campus's gallery and curator as well as the people who bought my work. I received a first class pass.

I have a year's work experience in a photographic studio, producing the online catalogue for one South Africa's largest retailers. My vast range of responsibilities gave me the opportunity to apply my knowledge practically, and refine my skills within different roles. My work ethic and ability to learn fast enabled me to move quickly from performing somewhat basic administrative tasks, to image retouching, to making vital and informed decisions with regards to image selection and finally becoming one of the two photographers in the studio.

Given the diversity of my responsibilities I had experience working in every part of the production process; this made problem solving easier as I had worked alongside the stylists, photographers, retouchers and administrators. As a retoucher I was required to cut products and figures out and place them on a pre- defined background, align them correctly, remove skin blemishes, resize images, do colour correction, add shadows, bulk process and whatever else the photograph required.

I am always willing to undertake any task given to me, and am able to rely on my own initiative as well as valuing the importance of following instructions. I was praised by my former employer for my ability to work as part of a team. This employment experience taught me the value of working accurately and efficiently in order to meet deadlines.

I am always eager to broaden my knowledge and I appreciate the necessity of hard work to do so. I am hard working, have a positive attitude and a perfectionist's approach to small details.

I have experience working with Mac and PC, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, and Capture One. My visa allows me to live and work in the UK.
