I walked in the sun and there it was, twisted and contorted , sitting in a field like an Anslem Kiefer Sculpture. Metal, Asbestos,Gas Canisters, mostly rust now, probably from the water that doused out the fire.The structure, contorting and twisting its stretching upwards as if reaching out to tell me what had happened.

Blue sky and distant trees framed in its windows, glass gone, holes left, wind blowing and the faint cry of children.

This was a football club house that I came across post Portugal Fires. I wanted to bring it back with me, to make an installation of it, a monument to those who perished in the fires. I photographed it instead, in a strange way found it quite beautiful, but beauty is tragic as when it goes.............
