ABOUT

The orientation system was developed to improve spatial clarity for elderly residents while establishing a consistent visual language that supports intuitive navigation and reinforces brand presence across the resort.

Yada Small Town is a resort community for elderly residents and their families located in rural China. The project focused on developing a comprehensive wayfinding system across the town, ranging from entrance information points and central orientation poles at key crossroads to wall and ceiling signage indicating essential facilities such as restrooms, exits, and emergency locations.
While the final implementation adopted a highly conservative visual language suited to the client’s audience, the process involved exploring several conceptual directions presented here are two of my preferred proposals: one inspired by natural elements and material softness, and another imagining a more futuristic, forward-looking identity for the community.

Both concepts reflect an attempt to elevate functional signage into an integral part of the large-scale spatial experience.
