This illustration reimagines the traditional idea of a princess through the lens of strength, resilience, and self-definition. Created for young women between the ages of 12 and 16, the piece challenges the passive, idealised female archetypes often presented in popular culture, instead portraying a heroine who embodies courage, independence, and power. Drawing inspiration from historical warriors and mythological figures, the character stands as both protector and leader — unapologetically fierce, yet deeply human.

The visual language of the piece blends feminine and masculine qualities to question society’s expectations of how women should look or behave. Rather than being designed through a male gaze, the character was intentionally shaped from the perspective of a young woman seeking representation beyond conventional beauty standards. Her armour, determined expression, and commanding stance symbolise inner strength, while the flowing hair and warm palette retain a sense of identity and individuality.
