ABOUT

I rolled out a huge sheet of paper on the dining room table and raided the cupboards for something gloopy to 'draw' with, settling on a squeezy golden syrup bottle. I didn't set out with anything specific in mind, but after a few minutes I had started drawing some really interesting lettering. Deciding that I should really plan this a bit if I didn't want to get through the whole roll of paper; and bottle of syrup! I very lightly sketched out the alphabet, so it was barley visible. Carefully I started to go over the letters with the syrup. I realised very quickly that if I waited until the end to photograph each letter they would all have turned into syruppy puddles... so ran to get my canon and started to shoot each letter just after I had drawn it. Later I open the image files on my mac and cleaned them up etc. I now had a gloopy font to use for all kinds of things... including a project I was working on at the time called 'The Art of Eavesdropping'. After experimenting a bit with colours and making a few posters for my project, I confess I forgot about the font a bit. But my Creative Director has been nagging for literally years to get this done properly with numbers and symbols too. So watch this space!
