ABOUT

"SO-SO SPINS TOKYO" is a groundbreaking piece of sound design created for commuters on Tokyo's Yamanote Line, born from BOSS's ambition to showcase the RC-505MKII Loop Station, collaborating with the Loop Station Japanese Master, SO-SO. The core mission was to craft engaging, localized music that resonated with 9 million daily commuters while authentically capturing the essence of the 30 distinct station neighborhoods. The work meticulously
blends ambient hyper-local sounds from each area with original compositions, perfectly synchronized to the train's schedule. This transformed the commute into an immersive experience reflecting the cultural sounds of each neighborhood. The campaign met its objectives by creating an accessible album celebrating Tokyo's most iconic train line and all its stations' sonic identity, while also expanding SO-SO’s fanbase, and vividly demonstrating the RC-505MKII's capabilities. One publication summed it up as: "Pure Engineered Art".
