"As our railway line slowly decays, so sleepers become tombstones and sea sand her grave."
This railroad is falling into disrepair and has come to an almost standstill, commuters often left high and dry. I shudder to think that someday this stretch of railway track may be abandoned entirely.
I drive by this coastline almost daily; I've come to know every twist and turn as the tracks meander along the seashore. My challenge is to photograph this railroad as if seeing it for the first time; I want to rediscover the nuances – and photograph the 'ordinary' and make it 'extraordinary' to my viewers!
To bring about an awareness of the potential loss to our city! I have 22 limited-edition Silver-Gelatin handprints with my curator in Milan, Italy. However, I'm constantly shooting additional studies –a pictorial memorial in the making.
PS: "MAKING LIGHT WORK" – is an in-house video portraying how close the tracks hug our picturesque coastline.
